Information about the Rotherfield Greys War Memorial
From the minutes of the Rotherfield Greys parish council meeting:
held on Tuesday 2nd October 1919 states a letter was received Dr. Woods:
“Dear Mr. Burr,
The Committee for the erection of a wayside cross as a memorial to those who served or fell in the war, have chosen the spot on the Green where the road to Henley divides as the best site and have me to request you to bring this before the next meeting of the parishioners to obtain their concurrence.
I do not suppose there will be any legal or other objection.
The space required is only 20 feet square or thereabouts.

The Revd. J. Hughes proposed the following resolution:
“This Council is not prepared to raise any objection to the request of the War Memorial Committee set out in Dr. Wood’s letter of 30th July 1919 to erect a cross at the point on Greys Green where the road to Henley divides”

It was agreed to ask the Revd. R.H. Lloyd to enquire if the parents were agreed for the names of the fallen to be inserted on the present War Memorial
