Dear Resident

We hope you are all enjoying the intermittent summer that we are having and if you have been following the Olympics, you may be aware that Tom Digby, was in the Team that won Gold in the Men’s 8 Rowing Competition.  Tom’s dad is Nick, our Parish Council Chairman.

More news includes:

Annual Parish and Parish Council meetings. If you missed the meetings, the minutes are available online here:    Rotherfield Greys Meeting Minutes

New website.  We are in the process of updating our online presence and our new website is now LIVE.  It is in the early stages still and we welcome feedback on any changes, anything you would like to see, etc.  Please note the contact email address for the clerk has changed, too.

New contact email address:   parishclerk@rotherfieldgreys.org.uk

Maltsters Arms

The pub is open again and welcoming returning and new customers.  We would like to welcome Sam and Rich Grant and their family.  Sam and Rich are offering restaurant quality classic pub food.  They are open every day except Wednesdays, with a later opening from 3pm on Tuesdays.  Sam and Rich are looking forward to welcoming all – locals, families, walkers, dogs, cyclists, etc .  We wish them every success in their venture and more information can be found here:  https://www.maltstersarmsrotherfield.co.uk/

War Memorial

After much research and clarification, we are pleased to confirm that names of 13 men

from the village, who were lost during the First and Second World Wars, and not previously

included on the War Memorial, are in the process of being added.  Details of a dedication

ceremony to be confirmed at the next Parish Council Meeting.

Defibrillators

There are two defibrillators in the village – one at the Village Hall and one at the Maltsters Arms.

There are very clear instructions on the outside of the machines and we have arranged for a “familiarisation session” to be held at the Village Hall on Wednesday 18th September at 7pm.  There are still a few places available and if you would like to be included, please contact parishclerk@rotherfieldgreys.org.uk to add your name(s) to the list.

Benches

You may have noticed that the benches around the village have all had a good clean and one has been replaced.  Many thanks to Alex Angell for doing this.

2024 Meetings

There are still two more Parish Council meetings this year (9th September and 11th November).  Meetings are held at the Village Hall and all parishioners are welcome to attend.  Meetings start at 7.30pm

The Parish Council rely on email to share information and get your feedback on local matters.  If you or a neighbour are not receiving messages from the Parish Council,  please do send us an email address so we can add you to the mailing list.  Please email parishclerk@rotherfieldgreys.org.uk with your details.

Kind Regards and Best wishes for the rest of the summer.
